CBD products: current legal situation

Is CBD Legal In The UK?

Can we legally purchase and consume marijuana in France today? Yes and no. Yes, because the state has relaxed its policies on CBD, including through the Minister of Health. And no, at the same time, because only products containing cannabidiol (CBD), an active compound that does not have the psychedelic effects credited to THC, are considered legal. Let us analyze what is legal and what is not with regard to marijuana and simple CBD.

CBD is legal in France, however THC is not

Cannabis must not be puzzled with cannabidiol. Specifically because the second is legal in particular kinds in France … While the other is not! Since cannabidiol (known by the acronym CBD) is just among the many active substances from the hemp plant, which does not have the psychedelic effects of its cousin THC – the one that makes you “stone”.

In short, what is generally called “marijuana”, which includes high concentrations of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is still considered a narcotic product. And for that reason prohibited in France as in numerous countries on the planet. On the other hand, marijuana which gives pride of place to the cannabinoid called cannabidiol, it is legal as long as its THC levels do not exceed 0.2%.

Nevertheless, the legislation remains unclear in France on this subject. Currently, there is no law that makes it clear whether CBD resource is legal or not. Concretely, it is licensed for sale in the form of E-liquid, to be utilized in an e cigarette. However it is also found in other kinds (including oil or paste), without its purchase and intake being reprehensible … To attempt to make it basic, let’s say that CBD is not forbidden by French law, unlike THC

Although CBD and THC are indistinguishable, they are very different. These are the best known of the 500 cannabinoids found in hemp. And each has its specific effects. THC is particularly known for its psychedelic homes: it triggers a modification in the state of awareness by acting directly on the brain. By taking in marijuana rich in THC, we “hover”: wellness, bliss, relaxation … But also red eyes, dilated students and, in some cases, stress and anxiety and even paranoia.

CBD has nothing to do with it. It is not blissful. It does not cause stress and anxiety or stress and anxiety attacks. On the contrary: cannabidiol remains in the procedure of making its method by virtue of its beneficial restorative effects. CBD assists relieve discomfort and swelling, lower stress and anxiety, relieve the suffering of victims of stress and anxiety attacks and depression, and even treat particular diseases (such as epilepsy or Alzheimer’s). In addition, it has a really low toxicity and presents (almost) no addictive danger, even if the absence of clinical studies reduces these attributes to mere hypotheses.

Legalization of CBD in France: should we go further?

Certainly, the legal development relating to CBD is positive, however whatever remains to be done. The health ministry wishes to be cautious, and the government’s position on the matter looks like a balancing act. At the same time, the National Medicines Agency has plainly spoken up. We for that reason look after the goat and the cabbage so as not to get too involved, while the vaporized cannabidiol has been readily available in France for a couple of years currently, taking advantage of the legal uncertainty that persists.

Beyond the 0.2% THC limit licensed in marketed products, it must be borne in mind that only the liquid kind of CBD (planned for electric cigarettes) is actually legal. The purchase and intake of resin or smoking cigarettes herb is for that reason not regulated, particularly because the THC level is frequently greater (around 15%). In addition, only the use of seeds and fibers is licensed in France. However what about CBD oil, which permits you to enjoy the benefits of the compound without exposing your lungs to possibly hazardous smoke? What about CBD paste? On these subjects, there is radio silence.
